Best Thing I Ever Ate

The Best Thing I Ever Ate…at Martha’s.

Picture this: You have just survived the seemingly never-ending hike up the footbridge hill. You’re panting, you’re sweating, and you’re hungry. Located right at the top of this fortress is your reward: Martha’s café.

The menu at Martha’s boasts a variety of delicious options from sandwiches, quesadillas and burritos, to soups and salads. Though it’s really hard to go wrong ordering anything at this café, by far the best thing I ever ate at Martha’s is the flatbread salad.

There are three different flatbread salads to choose from: the Balsamic Chicken, Roasted Garlic and my personal favorite, the Mediterranean. This light and fresh salad, made with crisp greens, diced tomatoes, artichoke hearts, roasted peppers and crumbled feta cheese, is served on top of a warm flatbread crust, coated with homemade pesto.

The Mediterranean flatbread salad can be eaten two ways: you can eat the salad first and save the crust for last, or you can fold the salad between the triangular slices of bread and eat it as you might a pizza. Personally, I prefer the latter of the two.

Whether you’re looking for a hot meal, a healthy meal, or just something refreshing, the Mediterranean flatbread salad is the way to go. The warm and doughy pesto-glazed flatbread topped with a cool, crisp salad and feta cheese oozing throughout, creates the best of both words, the  perfect mid-day meal, and a well-deserved reward for surviving that arduous trek up the footbridge hill.
