Best Thing I Ever Ate

The Best Thing I Ever Ate…On North Campus.

This one’s for all you freshmen out there looking for a good meal close to home. After a long day of classes, studying, and trekking back from central campus, you want something hearty. You want something healthy. But most importantly, you want something exciting!

So here it is. The best thing I ever ate on North Campus comes right from the Robert Purcell Community Center, better known as the RPCC. The Mongolian Grill in the RPCC Marketplace Eatery offers two options: stir-fry and more stir-fry.

This station enables you to insert your own creative intellect while designing your dinner, by offering a plethora of vegetables from broccoli and sprouts, to carrots and mushrooms. After carefully constructing your ideal amalgamation of veggies, you will hand them off to the stir-fry chef. At this point you will be asked a series of quite daunting questions, especially if this is your first time at the Mongolian Grill.

Chicken or Beef? Noodles or no noodles? General Tso’s, Honey Soy, or the special sauce of the day? The answers to these questions seem to roll off your tongue after a while, but I understand that for the stir-fry novice this can be quite an overwhelming experience.

So let’s break it down. For me, the answer to “chicken or beef?” is neither. I like to keep my stir-fry vegetarian, but add in tofu for some extra protein. The answer to “noodles or no noodles?” is always noodles. The answer to the last question may be kind of tricky, especially if you’ve never had any of these sauces.

So here’s the low-down on the sauces. If you can’t stand the heat, avoid General Tso’s like the plague! If you prefer something sweet, go for the Honey Soy. The special sauce varies from day to day, but if you’re feeling spontaneous, go for it!

Well, here you have it, the best thing I ever ate, and the best thing you will soon ever eat, right on North Campus. Set aside those pre-conceived notions about dining-hall food and stop by the Mongolian Grill at the RPCC for some Asian-infused deliciousness today!
