Travi$ Scott is hands down one of the most exciting up and coming hip-hop artists of 2013. Currently signed to Epic Records and T.I.’s Grand Hustle imprint he’s also signed to Kanye West’s Very GOOD Beats as a producer. Travi$ co-produced the songs, “To The World”, “The Morning” and “Don’t Like”, and also produced and contributed a verse to “Sin City” on Kanye’s Cruel Summer.
Only 20 years old, Travi$ started producing beats at 16. After being involved in a couple flopped hip-hop duos out of his hometown Houston, Texas, Travi$ dropped out of The University of Texas and moved to Los Angeles. With the help from his friend Mike Waxx, who owns the popular website Illroots, Travi$ started to release his music. T.I. listened to one of Travi$’ songs Lights (Love Sick) and contacted Travi$, asking him to come down to a studio, T.I. then freestyled a verse over one of Travi$’ song, Animal which really helped Travi$ blow up.
This past Thursday Travi$ dropped three songs slated to appear on his debut EP, Owl Pharaoh: “Upper Echelon,” “Pussy” and “Quintana.” These songs are definitely exciting enough to justify putting Travis on XXL’s Freshman class without having a mixtape out. These songs feature some serious players in rap including Chuck Inglish, 2Chainz, MMG’s Gunplay and T.I.
