Join Slope Media Group!

Slope Media Group is always looking for ambitious, enthusiastic, and media-minded Cornellians to expand our team of dedicated Slopers! Don’t worry if you don’t have any prior media experience – As a teaching organization, we’ll help you develop the skills you need to write buzzworthy articles, edit viral videos, layout beautiful magazines, or strategize brilliant social media campaigns. All you need is an interest in digital media, print, television, music, outreach or marketing; an upbeat attitude; and a willingness to learn!

Where and when our open department meetings will take place will be announced at the start of the semester. In the mean time, feel free to email our Department Directors listed below, or contact our President at 

Departments

Members write weekly articles including thought and opinion pieces, profiles and features, quizzes and listicles, etc. Writers often receive unique opportunities to attend events behind-the-scenes in exchange for coverage. The department also releases a full-color, print magazine, distributed across campus each semester.

Members also have the ability to serve as a copy-editor and/or online editor.

Meetings: Tuesday at 5:30PM in Uris G26.

Editor-in-Chief: 

The department maintains our social media presence, promoting content that our members have created, and helps to identify opportunities for growth. Further, they work to plan social media events such as #NeedANewProfPic, Slurpin’ with Slope, and our end-of-semester magazine launch party.

Members have the ability to serve as campaign leads and/or as the chair of our various social media profiles.

Meetings: Thursday at 4:30 in Goldwin Smith 144

Director of Marketing: 

Our music department focuses on – you guessed it – music. Whether it’s Cornell’s own musical artists or a world-renowned performer, the Music Department works to cover their work, writing reviews, creating playlists, conducting interviews and more.

Director of Music: 

Our Outreach Department has a unique role in working with dozens of clubs, causes, and organizations at Cornell to cover and promote their various offerings and events. If the idea of networking with influential groups and leaders at Cornell sounds interesting to you, then our Outreach Department is where you belong!

Meetings: Thursdays at 4:30 in Goldwin Smith 144

Director of Outreach: 

Our photographers have the opportunity to attend and photograph various happenings and events across Cornell’s campus. Members of the department are also welcome to suggest and lead their own photo campaigns, and expand their photography skills and portfolios in the process. Members contribute photos the semiannual print magazine.

Meetings: Mondays at 5:30 in Temple of Zeus.

Director of Photography: 

Our TV department works to create original videos, sponsored content, and series such as Cornell Cribs, and #WeAreCornell. Members can take on a variety of roles and responsibilities when it comes to filming and editing, and are encouraged to create and take on their own video projects.

Meetings: Every other Sunday at 2PM in the Willard Straight Hall CIT Lab (first floor). Email to know when the next scheduled meeting is!

Director of Television: 

Our Design and Brand Directors are responsible for creating our Facebook cover photos, infographics, flyers, and of course our beautiful print magazine layout each semester. If you have experience in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc, send an email to learn how to get involved!
