The second episode of Big Red Faceoff features Joe and Mike Devin of the Hockey team and Basketball players Aaron Osgood and Adam Wire.  They faceoff in Lacrosse on Schoellkopf field with a little help from goalie Andrew West.

Senior Mark Coury contributed eight points and six rebounds and classmate Adam Wire put in seven points, six boards and a pair of blocks as the Red outlasted Yale 68-55 on Senior Night.

“It was fun,” Adam Wire finally concluded, struggling to find the appropriate words to summarize his four years in a Big Red uniform.

Although Cornell started off strong and took a three point lead into the half, old habits caught up with the Red as they were again, unable to close a tight one out.  Brian Barbour led the comeback for Columbia as the Lions picked up the 70-66 victory in Newman Arena.

The Big Red (4-11) was one play away on Saturday night. One play from a tenth straight victory over in-state rival Columbia (10-5). One play from a fourth consecutive 1-0 start to Ivy League play. After Steve Donahue departed for Boston College, Andy Noel and the Cornell athletic department were tasked with finding the new Robert E. Gallagher Head Coach of Men’s Basketball. Noel found his man in Bill Courtney. Tune in to find out a little bit more about the new head man in Ithaca.

On Friday afternoon, Cornell officially introduced Bill Courtney as the 21st men’s basketball head coach in school history, replacing Steve Donahue who departed for Boston College on April 6th.
