It’s that lucky time of year again: St. Patrick’s Day. For most college students, a typical celebration of this holiday consists of dartying all day and bar-hopping all night. But if you don’t have quite that much free time, here are some other ways to make sure St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t go unnoticed.
1. Wear green
An easy way to show support for this fun holiday is to wear its signature color. If you’re wearing a “Kiss me, I’m Irish” shirt, odds are you’re not actually Irish. But it’s ok–everyone can claim to be a little Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.

2. Celebrate with a colorful sandwich
Last year, the Green Goddess sandwich was the March special at Goldie’s in the Physical Sciences Building. Since it so popular, the sandwich is now featured on the regular menu. For those of you that would rather eat naturally green food rather than dyed, this sandwich – containing spinach, pesto, avocado, goat cheese, and mozzarella – is for you.

3. Read up on your St. Patty’s Day History
The holiday celebrates St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, and there’s a lot more to it than just parades and beer. This conception comes from the fact that the traditional Lent restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol were lifted for the holiday.

4. Attend a themed dinner at RPCC
Try some traditional Irish foods like corned beef and cabbage, and shepherd’s pie. Be sure to get some green-themed desserts, too. If you’re an upperclassman, it’s definitely worth using a freshman’s guest swipe or shelling out some BRBs.

5. Stop by Coltivare for free beer
From 4-8 pm at Coltivare in the Commons, Bacchus Brewing Company and CB Craft Brewers are holding a free beer tasting. Unclear if the beer will be green; guess you’ll just have to go and find out.

6. Find your pot of gold
Whether it’s a good grade on a prelim, or a friend who made your day, maybe you’ll have the luck of the Irish today!
