An abduction and assault case remains a mystery in Cairo, Egypt. A young woman who traveled to attend a music festival is missing without a trace. Her family later finds her at the hospital in critical condition. Who are the culprits behind this tragedy? Will the investigation lead to answers? Here’s the full story!
The young woman simply wanted to have fun!
Ivonne Daniela Lattore, a 24-year-old Colombian, aimed to celebrate her birthday in a unique way. She and her friend, a beauty queen named Estefanía Bedoy, traveled to Egypt. While there, the two young women attended the Zamna Electronic Music Festival and had the time of their lives.
During the festival, they met a woman named Jessi Escobar, who claimed to know a producer! She introduced them to two strangers who promised to launch their careers as celebrities. But after this encounter, no one heard from Ivonne again! Even her friend had no idea where she was!
Quickly, Ivonne’s mother flew to Egypt to search for her. On social media, the family stated: “Neither her family nor her friends knew she was missing until Tuesday, April 30, when Estefanía, her travel companion, contacted us.” Someone had taken her to the hospital, unconscious and severely injured!
She could not overcome this ordeal!
Understandably, suspicion fell on her friend Estefanía. Initially, she was reluctant to cooperate but eventually stated: “She fell from a great height, and I wasn’t there; she was with other people at that time.”
Furthermore, the young woman allegedly reached out to her family for help. Someone she referred to as “the Serbian” was believed to be the leader of the wrongdoers. In her messages, she expressed: “They want to do something to me. They want to kidnap me.” She also added: “They don’t want to let us be a group” and “I’m scared of him.”
Sadly, her family arrived a bit too late. Two days after being admitted to the hospital, on May 4, the young woman’s heart stopped beating. The case is now in the hands of the Cairo police, who are actively searching for the two men who interacted with Ivonne and Estefanía. Jessi Escobar is also among the list of suspects!
Will this young woman return to her homeland?
While awaiting the results of the investigation, Ivonne’s family hopes to repatriate her body. However, the cost of such a journey is not affordable. Therefore, they have reached out to the world for assistance by setting up a GoFundMe page.
Ivonne’s family states: “Hello, we are the family and friends of Ivonne Daniela Latorre Sánchez. The goal of this fundraising campaign is to repatriate her body, as she tragically lost her battle following a violent assault while attending the ZAMNA festival in Cairo, Egypt.”
They further add: “At this moment, the family cannot afford the expenses of repatriation. We want to help her mother travel as soon as possible to be by her side. Her presence is not only an act of love but also an urgent need during this incredibly delicate time.”
